U.S. Department of Justice investigators will interview Missoula police Wednesday and Thursday about 518 sexual assault reports, ranging from misdemeanors to rape, over the past four years, Chief Mark Muir said Tuesday.

After a vicious assault on a Trinity College sophomore a few months ago, suspicions turned toward neighborhoods near its Hartford campus. Hundreds of students rallied for tighter security. A federal judge has unsealed court documents against the wishes of the University of Montana that show university officials voted to expel a student accused of rape after he unsuccessfully requested that the judge intervene in his disciplinary proceedings.

About 30 Old Dominion University students have assisted campus police as patrol aides – looking for suspicious activity, escorting students at night and answering phone calls for the Safe Rides program.
