Michigan State University President Lou Anna K. Simon condemned a string of racial incidents that have erupted on campus and will be addressed on Tuesday evening at a meeting of several student and community organizations.

When city officials arrived last month at a private dormitory that houses more than 900 Old Dominion University students, and which has been the site of several armed robberies and drug deals, they found unauthorized people entering the building, malfunctioning fire alarms and no security at the front door.

Hackers briefly defaced Harvard University’s website yesterday, replacing the home page of America’s oldest university with an image of Syria’s president, Bashar el-Assad, together with a message accusing the United States of supporting the uprising against his regime and threatening retaliation by Syria’s “23 million mobile bomb.’’

Pale, thin and dressed in a red jail uniform, a Harvard University-educated biology professor pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to capital murder charges Thursday in the slayings of three colleagues killed during a faculty meeting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

Two Quinnipiac University basketball players were arrested on assault charges Sunday after allegedly hitting two other university students as they were trying to break up a fight on campus, police said.

Reacting to an opinion from Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli that holders of concealed-weapon permits may bring their guns into university buildings, Old Dominion University is moving to prohibit them from doing so.
