Industry Leaders Forecast Areas of Growth During Education Business Forum

Education technology executives discuss strategies for growing the value of their business in the digital learning market

WASHINGTON (Dec. 22, 2015) – The Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN) of SIIA, the principal trade association representing the software and digital content industries, brought together K12 and higher education ed tech leaders during the Education Business Forum this month. ETIN provided attendees, including financial gurus and Innovation Incubator finalists, insights into the growth areas for technologies that will transform the education industry.

ETIN reviewed and accepted 10 ed tech early-stage companies to pitch their innovative products to investors and acquiring companies attending the forum. The organization presented top awards to FANSchool, Inc. for Fantasy Geopolitics as the Most Innovative and MathSpace for MathSpace as the Most Likely to Succeed.

Attendees received advice from the financial community that included Jean Hammond (LearnLaunch Boston), Matthew Greenfield (Rethink Education) and Brian Napack (Providence Equity).

Although opinions varied, investors see the greatest potential in companies that have a working business model because of its ability to be scaled to the platform companies of the future. They also took interest in companies that propose solutions to big problems in order to change the lives of children. Finally, they predicted success for those companies that do something completely original, and for those companies who serve the special needs population.

During the popular roundtables, attendees participated in lively discussions around topics such as distribution, next generation LMS, global and diversity, commenting that they appreciated the opportunity to engage in conversations, ask questions and hear directly from experts in the field.
