Apple's iPad 2 ($499 and up) is not just an updated version of the original iPad that hit the market last year. Its new design is 33 percent thinner and up to 15 percent lighter than the original 1.5-pound iPad. It features the same 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD screen, but a new dual-core A5 processor for faster performance. A front-facing VGA camera allows for making FaceTime calls to iPhone4, iPod touch, and Mac users anywhere there is Wi-Fi. A rear-facing camera captures 720p HD video. HP has expanded use of its webOS mobile operating software to include the new TouchPad tablet. The 1.6-pound tablet, scheduled for release this summer, runs on a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and offers 16 or 32 gigabytes of internal storage and a micro-USB with USB 2.0 Hi-Speed. The tablet measures 7.48 inches wide, 9.53 inches tall, and 0.54 inches thick. It features a full virtual QWERTY keyboard and an 18-bit color 1,024x768 resolution display for viewing content on the high-performance browser that offers full access to the web, including Flash-based content. The TouchPad is suitable for work and play, with the capability to toggle between work and personal e-mail inboxes.
