Texas Tech University System names fifth chancellor and CEO

Tedd L. Mitchell, who began at the Texas Tech University System as interim chancellor in September, now serves as the fifth chancellor and CEO of the system, which includes Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso and Angelo State University. Mitchell will continue leading Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, which he’s done since 2010.

At the center, Mitchell led the largest facility expansion initiative and oversaw the graduation of more health care professionals there than at any other health-related institution in Texas.

Mitchell also established the TTUHSC El Paso campus and raised more than $186.7 million in donations.

  • In February, Dean Sherine E. Gabriel of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (N.J.) will begin leading Rush University (Chicago).
  • David Seidl recently began as vice president for information technology and chief information officer of Miami University (Ohio). Seidl was previously senior director of campus technology services at the University of Notre Dame (Ind.).
