Registration opens for UBTech 2013, the annual higher ed tech leadership conference from University Business
Registration is now open for UBTech 2013, University Business magazine’s annual higher-ed technology leadership conference, where more than 80 speakers will address the program’s theme of “Vanishing Boundaries; Emerging Opportunities.”
UBTech 2013 will be held June 10-12 at the Swan & Dolphin Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. As in past years, the event is co-located with located near InfoComm, the international audio-visual exposition, and UBTech participants enjoy free access to the InfoComm exhibit hall.
“We have an outstanding lineup of keynote, featured and concurrent session speakers,” says JD Solomon, program director for UBTech and editorial director for University Business. “Our presenters will examine the shifting and disappearing boundaries that have defined how, when and where higher education delivers on its mission—and the new challenges and opportunities that face every department in every school.”
The event’s two keynote presenters will address the imperative to innovate throughout higher education. Gene Wade, co-founder and CEO of UniversityNow, will discuss what it takes to start a university from scratch and make a college education available to everyone. Sree Sreenivasan, chief digital officer at Columbia University, will talk about what it takes to get ahead of the trends in online education, digital learning and social media.
Among the 10 featured sessions at UBTech 2013 will be a presentation titled “Google Apps vs. Microsoft Office 365: A Tale of Two Implementations,” at which the CIOs of UMass/Boston and Wake Forest University will present case studies.
The program will address ways that technology impacts all of higher education, with special focus on the areas of campus network and infrastructure, teaching and learning, facilities planning and design, financial services and marketing.
“UBTech attracts speakers and attendees from colleges and universities of all sizes and from across the United States,” says Solomon. “What they have in common are management-level responsibilities at their institutions and a desire to leverage technology to help meet the challenges that are emerging throughout higher education.”

- Presentation of the annual AMX Innovation Awards, which recognize innovative higher education institutions for their use of technology in improving the campus experience.
