Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder today signed a capital outlay bill that commits $304.5 million in state funding to facilitate $613 million in new construction projects at universities and community colleges around the state.

If 30,000 people attend a football game at Tulane University's proposed on-campus stadium, 70 percent of them are likely to travel by private cars, meaning more than 8,000 parking spaces would be needed to accommodate them, consultants working for Tulane said at a public forum this week.

Richard Stockton College officials plan to contract with a private developer to build housing for at least 700 students on Pomona Road near the athletic fields. The addition would expand the available housing by more than 25 percent by September 2014.

Michigan State University's $42.5 million Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, originally scheduled to open Saturday before glass problems intervened, is still set for a fall inauguration. But no specific date has yet been set.
