When students enroll at Grand Valley State University, they’re more likely now than a decade ago to take a class or two at another institution – typically a community college – as they pursue their degree.

The second-in-charge of Alabama's two-year college system -- brought in by Chancellor Freida Hill, who is under fire from the state Board of Education -- resigned this week to accept a job in the Technical College System of Georgia, where he worked with Hill before coming to Alabama in June 2010.
