Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie has presented the President's Medal for Excellence to Neil Theobald, IU's chief financial officer, who will become the next president of Temple University in Philadelphia on Jan. 1. The President's Medal is the highest honor an IU president can bestow. Theobald, who joined IU in 1993 as an associate professor of educational finance in the School of Education, has served as chief financial officer since July 2007 and was named senior vice president in October 2011.

Indiana University Treasurer Mary Frances McCourt has been appointed interim vice president and CFO to succeed Neil Theobald, who is leaving IU at the end of the year to become president of Temple University. McCourt will take over the position beginning Jan. 1 as long as the IU Board of Trustees approves the appointment at its business meeting Friday.

Dr. Cynthia Warrick, interim president of South Carolina State University, has appointed Michael Hubbard as associate vice president for Institutional Advancement. Hubbard comes from the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (Oak Ridge, Tenn.), where he was previously group manager.

The Florida State College at Jacksonville board has agreed to offer the interim president position to former state College System Chancellor Willis Holcombe. Holcombe was one of 17 candidates considered to take the temporary job. Outgoing President Steve Wallace's term ends Dec. 31.

This year's report analyzed the 2011 donor-advised fund market through the lens of several metrics: number of donor-advised fund accounts, total assets, contributions received, grants paid, average donor-advised fund account size and payout rate. Several of these reached new heights in 2011, including a record high in the dollar amount of grants from donor-advised fund accounts.
