The NCAA put Baylor on three years of probation Wednesday after an investigation turned up hundreds of impermissible telephone calls and text messages sent to prep recruits by coaches and assistants on the basketball teams.

University of Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez said this week his department is in the process of crafting written procedures for serving alcohol at off-campus functions. Without a written policy, Alvarez said the department's oversight of alcohol at events had "probably" become lax.

University of North Dakota teams risk forfeiting any post-season games if their athletes, cheerleaders or band wear or display the school's Fighting Sioux nickname and American Indian head logo, an NCAA official said Wednesday.
