The latest plans to transform New York's four public university centers into top national research facilities and high-technology job producers were released Wednesday in a proposal for a "smart energy" research facility at the University at Binghamton.

Key Equipment Finance, one of the nation’s largest bank-held equipment finance companies and an affiliate of KeyCorp (NYSE: KEY) today announced that the company is financing a solar system installation at Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey. SunDurance Energy, a leading national solar provider, is the solar integrator for the project.

Salt River Project (SRP), Arizona State University (ASU) and SunPower Corp. (NASDAQ: SPWR) today announced an agreement to build a 1-megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant at ASU’s Polytechnic campus in Mesa, Ariz. The 1-megawatt facility will be the first commercial deployment of SunPower® C7 Tracker technology, a solar photovoltaic tracking system that concentrates the sun’s power seven times designed to achieve the lowest levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) for solar power plants available today.
