When the University of Alberta recently decided to seek Information Technology Infrastructure Library certification, it did so with confidence. It knew it had an ace in the hole: Alcatel-Lucent’s VitalQIP DNS/DHCP IP Address Management solution.

At Carroll University, retention is at the top of the priority list—and it’s a full-time job for the Director of Student Success. During this web seminar, top leaders at Carroll University discussed how they made retention a day-to-day priority and created a campus-wide culture of student success. They discussed Jenzabar’s customized retention technology platform and how it helped identify the unique factors that influence retention. Carroll University is located in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and has an undergraduate enrollment of 2,850 and a graduate enrollment of 450.

At the Stanford University School of Medicine’s new learning center, one system of capturing lectures does it all—from scheduling and recording an event to distribution of audio and video files.

Athens State University—like many institutions of higher education today—is grappling with the challenges of a growing segment of students who take classes online. In fact, 51 percent of the two-year school’s student body takes classes exclusively online. To best serve those students by providing them with the flexibility to view course content anytime, anywhere, Athens State uses Tegrity lecture capture. However, that’s not where Tegrity’s benefits end. Today, the university is preparing a large deployment of Tegrity’s remote proctoring feature, which allows students to take exams in their own homes, while still ensuring the integrity of the results.

What’s the real impact of employee absenteeism on your institution? In a recent study of colleges and universities, 53 percent of respondents said they rely on manual processes like three-part leave slips and handwritten time sheets to track and approve time and absence. Consequences include human error and the potential for erroneous absence tracking. But inaccurate time tracking also impacts productivity, FMLA compliance, revenue, and pay-outs upon separation or retirement.

The uses for AV technologies in higher ed aren’t limited to traditional classrooms. At the University of Florida’s new three-story, 100,000 square-foot veterinary teaching hospital, an integrated AV network is woven into the fabric of the building. In this University Business web seminar, originally presented on May 22, 2012, David John, safety and security supervisor at the College of Veterinary Medicine, discussed how the hospital is using its AV network to improve patient care as well as the learning experience for students.

On any university or college campus, information is held in numerous content-related, department-specific applications. For example, HR likely has its own system that allows staff to easily access information through a primary portal; accounting may be set up the same way. And so it goes throughout the campus, with departments utilizing their own systems to conduct business.

Many institutions across the country are struggling with student preparedness and retention rates within their math departments. A large portion of these schools are looking to redesign their curriculum to address these issues.
