A combination of new and renovated buildings continues to rise in the San Diego Community College District with funding from Propositions S and N. Crews at Miramar College recently broke ground on a new parking structure and police station, a $17.8 million project that will provide 815 new spaces for the campus. The structure is scheduled for completion next year. The new building is the latest in the series of projects aimed at modernizing local community colleges. “They will completely transform all the campuses, taking them to state-of-the-art instruction facilities,” said Constance Carroll, chancellor for the college district. “This is ramping up community college as high as it can go.” The results of the $1.55 billion bond program can be seen at City, Mesa and Miramar Colleges as well as six Continuing Education campuses in the district. There are 80 projects on the master list, with all of them to be completed by 2015.
