College of Saint Mary in Omaha has hired the former president of Dana College in Blair as Dana continues the process of closing its doors. Former Dana President Janet Philipp will serve as chair of the division of health professions at the College of Saint Mary, effective Aug. 1. In that position, she will oversee curriculum and faculty for all nursing and occupational therapy degrees. Philipp has more than 18 years of educational administrative experience and holds a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of South Dakota, a Master of Science in family and community health nursing from Creighton University, a B.S.N. and Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Dubuque and a degree from the Capitol City School of Nursing. Her previous positions include: liberal arts dean and campus executive officer at the University of Wisconsin-Rock County; ACE fellow at Wartburg College; and vice president for academic affairs/dean of the college and professor of nursing education at Morningside College. "Dr. Philipp is an excellent fit to lead our health professions division at CSM," said Christine Pharr, vice president for academic affairs at College of Saint Mary. "Her experience as a nurse educator and administrator will be extremely valuable in guiding our many programs -- from practical nursing through the doctorate in health education."
