Baylor University’s presidential search is gaining momentum, as the school released a prospectus this week detailing the ideal qualifications and characteristics of candidates.
Broken into four sections — academic vision, professional experience, leadership style and personal attributes — the profile lists “desired qualifications, and we acknowledge that it’s unlikely that any one person will fulfill all of these desires,” Baylor regent and presidential search committee chairman Joe Armes said.
The 21-page prospectus includes foundational, financial, academic and historical information about the university, as well as the presidential profile.
Armes said the profile was compiled after the committee consulted with its presidential search advisory committee — made up of alumni, faculty, staff, student and community representatives — and weighed comments from several “listening sessions” held across the state in late spring. The search committee also been working with Jerry Baker of Baker and Associates, LLC, a consulting firm, Armes said.
