Saying it's too early for a merger, a College of William and Mary committee is recommending the school start a “health-care delivery” pilot program with Eastern Virginia Medical School to explore the possibility of a more in-depth relationship.
The report was released Wednesday on the college’s website.
William and Mary and Norfolk-based EVMS have been exploring the possibilities of a merger or other partnership since July. Both schools established committees to explore the financial and administrative impact of such a move.
The schools jointly asked the General Assembly to approve $1 million in funding to explore that idea late last year, but reduced the request this month to $200,000.
