Why Grand Rapids Community College Is Considering Differential Tuition Rates For Some Students

Administrators at Grand Rapids Community College are pushing a proposal that would reduce tuition for some high school students dual enrolled at the college.

Under the proposal, unveiled by President Steven Ender Tuesday night, the college could charge dual enrolled students who take GRCC classes at their high school a different rate than dual enrolled students who take GRCC classes at the college.

That tuition rate would likely be decided in May, when the college sets its annual tuition rate.

Ender said the change makes sense because students taking GRCC courses at their high school shouldn’t have to pay certain fees and other expenses the college charges.
