The Oregon State Board of Higher Education appointed Mark Weiss as interim president of Western Oregon University on Friday. He will begin the transition by the start of fall term and continue through July 30, 2013.
Weiss succeeds Dr. John P. Minahan, who was named president in 2005 and announced his retirement July 13.
The board unanimously chose Weiss, who has been executive vice president of finance and administration at WOU.
According to the WOU website, Weiss’ experience includes nine years at KPMG Peat Marwick in New York City, where he was a senior manager and certified public accountant, and 17 years with the international firm of Siemens.
