Being a visionary university was the theme of Western Michigan University President John Dunn's State of the University address on Friday.
He noted that 30 years ago, before the dawn of the internet age, WMU President John Bernhard required all students to become computer literate in order to earn a degree from WMU.
“We need to continue to be bold, adapt and change,” Dunn said during his address in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. “The only constant in life is change and we are an adapting university.”
The university saw its enrollment numbers jump in online education, with a 44 percent increase this fall, at a time when overall enrollment numbers are down by 2 percent.
