Wesleyan Educator Becoming Ohio College President

A chemistry professor and former provost at Connecticut's Wesleyan University has been named the 18th president of Marietta College in Ohio.

Joseph Bruno, a Wesleyan educator for 27 years, was selected from more than 60 applicants. He starts July 1, 2012, to replace retiring Marietta President Jean A. Scott.

Bruno has worked with four Wesleyan presidents during his time at the Middletown university, and was its provost and vice president for academic affairs from 2006 to 2010.

Marietta is a liberal arts college with about 1,400 students and 44 majors in southeastern Ohio. Bruno will be welcomed at a reception there in January.
