Weber State University has been awarded a $1.6 million federal grant to fund its Veterans Upward Bound program for another five years.
The program is one of 51 to receive such funding; 300 programs applied, according to a WSU news release.
Veterans Upward Bound serves those who are low-income or the first in their families to attend college. It provides mentoring, tutoring, counseling and pre-college academic instruction as well as support after the veteran enrolls in college. The 144 participants range from age 20 to 70.
