Percentage increases in undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees at Virginia Tech and Radford University were higher than the average for public colleges and universities this year, a state report has found.
The average increase for in-state undergraduate tuition and fees across the commonwealth for the 2011-12 school year was 7.9 percent, according to a report issued by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.
The annual report tracks the affordability of the state's colleges and universities, and compares tuition, fee and other costs among all state-supported institutions.
Tech's 9.6 percent increase for tuition and all mandatory fees fell above the state average, as did Radford's increase of 8.1 percent.
