The University of Wisconsin System will request a nearly $21 million investment in new initiatives over the 2013-'15 budget biennium, according to agenda materials for an upcoming Board of Regents meeting.
System officials described the request put forward by President Kevin Reilly as modest. In 2010, the Board of Regents requested $83.6 million in new investments.
Just over $17.1 million of the current request is intended "to support increased economic development efforts; the development of dual enrollment programs; additional access; and improvements in student retention, graduation and satisfaction," according to the materials.
The rest of the request is intended to support the flexible, online degree program announced by Walker and the UW System earlier this summer.
