UW-Madison Employees Likely To Be Banned From Carrying Guns While Working

UW-Madison employees would not be able to carry guns or other weapons while working under a policy recommendation approved by the university's Faculty Senate Monday.

The language mirrors that being drafted for the entire University of Wisconsin System, said Brad Barham, chair of the Faculty Senate's executive committee and a professor of agricultural and applied economics.

University officials have already announced that firearms and other weapons will not be allowed in campus buildings under the concealed carry law, which takes effect Nov. 1. The law gives people who obtain a permit and go through training the right to carry concealed weapons in public.
