UW Closes Some Rec Buildings Due To Heat, Opens Eagle Heights Cooling Center

UW-Madison announced Tuesday it is closing some of its recreation facilities and opening a cooling center in the Eagle Heights neighborhood in response to the heat wave gripping Madison.

University Health Services recommended officials close any activity spaces that do not have air conditioning until Sunday, according to UW-Madison Communications.

As a result, the Camp Randall Sports Center, known as the Shell, and Nielsen Tennis Stadium are both closed until further notice, officials said.

Other facilities are only partially open.
