The University of Virginia Faculty Senate has asked the school’s governing board to do more to help rebuild the trust that was shattered by the failed attempt to oust President Teresa A. Sullivan.

“So far, we have not heard from the board, except for a publicly issued joint statement from the Rector [Helen E. Dragas] and President Sullivan that pledges cooperation but offers no specifics on either substantive concerns or governance issues,” Faculty Senate Chairman George M. Cohen said in a July 30 letter to the board.

The board is scheduled to hold its annual retreat on Aug. 15 and 16.

The faculty letter suggests three specific actions the board could take at the retreat: conduct a self-assessment, engage a professional facilitator due to lingering divisions on the board and clarify the purpose and scope of two new committees dealing with governance and strategic planning.
