Police said a report of harassment near the University of Iowa campus eventually led to a Hawk Alert warning recipients about an armed subject.
Iowa City Police Sgt. Denise Brotherton said the department took a report of a harassment call shortly before 9 p.m. Monday night. Brotherton said the alleged victim lived on Newton Road, which is near the University of Iowa campus.
Brotherton said the woman reported the suspect had access to a weapon and felt threatened. Brotherton said she was unaware if there were any specific threats made.
“We were able to track the person down and there was no weapon located,” Brotherton said, noting the man was located in Muscatine.
