UNO Officially Joins University Of Louisiana System

The University of New Orleans has received final approval to join the University of Louisiana System.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools-Commission on Colleges approved the move Tuesday, concluding a five-month transition from the LSU System.

The University of Louisiana System is the largest higher education system in the state, enrolling about 94,000 students at nine institutions. System President Randy Moffett says the addition of UNO complements the system's other eight universities.

John Mineo IV, president of UNO's Student Government, says the move into the UL System, coupled with the pending selection of a new president and ongoing campus improvements are energizing the student body.
