A declining pool of Wisconsin high school graduates? Questions swirling about whether college is worth it? Neither trend seems evident in this year's class of UW-Madison freshmen.
The school hit an all-time high in applications and will have its second-highest number of entering students from Wisconsin since 2005, according to a university announcement Tuesday.
More than 30,000 applications came in for this fall, the first time the school has crossed that threshold. The 30,463 applications is up nearly 3 percent from last year.
