Dell Medical School, the future medical school at the University of Texas, received its biggest go-ahead Thursday, with a vote from the school’s board of regents to approve $334.5 million to pay for its first phase.

Under the plan, the Dell Medical School would be built on property near the Frank Erwin Center and would include research and medical office buildings, parking facilities and a new teaching hospital built by Seton Healthcare Family. The university must forge an agreement with the city of Austin to redirect Red River Street between 15th and 19th streets to accommodate the planned layout for the medical buildings.
