University of Texas at Austin college gets new name after huge foundation gift

The University of Texas at Austin said Monday its College of Communication will be renamed after the Moody Foundation donated a $50 million endowment to the school.

It will now be known as the Moody College of Communications.

Based in Galveston, Texas, the Moody Foundation is a philanthropic organization founded in the 1940s by W.L. Moody Jr. and his wife, Libbie Rice Shearn Moody. One of Galveston's best-known tourist attractions, Moody Gardens, also bears their name.
