University Of South Alabama Students Say Cheating Is Prevalent At The Mobile School

Almost half of University of South Alabama students responding to questions about cheating and plagiarism believe that they are prevalent at the school, according to a story this week in The Vanguard student newspaper.

Also, more than half of the 667 respondents to the email survey said they feel that students who cheat never get caught.

USA students in a senior reporting seminar conducted the poll last spring as a class project.

Jim Aucoin, chairman of USA’s Department of Communication, said the polling involved emails to all 15,000 students. The work to collect and compile answers took about three months.
