University of Iowa launches new site for construction projects

Just about everywhere you look on the University of Iowa campus, there’s a crane or a concrete skeleton of a new building on the horizon. Wendy Moorehead with UI Facilities Management called it a campus renewal, after the damage caused by the 2008 flood.

“As construction activity increased on campus, we received more and more questions from the campus and community about the timelines for the projects, how it might impact pedestrian or vehicle traffic,” said Moorehead.

To manage those questions, Facilities Management rolled out the “Building for Iowa” page last Monday, with all the details of its master plan funneled into one location. It shows project schedules and completion dates, building costs, and what to expect from new facilities. Some of the major ones include the new Hancher Auditorium and Voxman Music Building.
