University of Akron presidential house undergoes $375,000 in renovations

Scott Scarborough is 20 days into his presidency at the University of Akron. But it will be months before he’s able to get into the home that UA is providing for him.

The university is spending about $375,000 to renovate the French country home in West Akron for Scarborough, his wife and daughter, and his wife’s parents.

Ted Curtis, UA vice president of capital planning and facilities management, said this will be the first major update for the 28-year-old home since UA bought it and a neighboring lot in 1999 for $850,000.
