The teacher certification program at UMass Dartmouth is in serious jeopardy after a licensure review by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education flunked the program following a three-day site visit late last year.
In a gravely worded memo obtained by The Standard-Times, Chancellor Jean MacCormack has summoned a dozen faculty and administrators to a mandatory meeting Friday morning in the administration building.
"While I am by nature an optimistic and 'glass half-full' person, I expect this may be a difficult conversation for all of us," she wrote.
Monday, nobody involved was returning a reporter's phone calls. Spokesman John Hoey confirmed there is a meeting scheduled for Friday.
