UConn President Seeks To Consolidate Two Top Jobs

University of Connecticut President Susan Herbst wants to combine two top-level administrative positions at the school into a single job.

Herbst will ask the school's board of trustees on Wednesday to eliminate the positions of vice president and chief operating officer and vice president for human resources. She proposes replacing those jobs with a single position of vice president for administration and chief financial officer. Herbst says that is a common administrative structure at many schools.

UConn spokesman Mike Kirk said Barry Feldman, the current chief operating officer, and Donna Munroe, the vice president for human resources, either would be reassigned or leave the university if the change is approved.
