The armed robbery that resulted in a five-hour lockdown Sunday at the University of South Alabama stemmed from a student’s attempt to buy marijuana from two men, USA Police Chief Zeke Aull said today.

Justin Sears, 19, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree criminal trespassing, according to Aull. Sears had been banned from USA’s campus March 24 because "he was involved in some illegal narcotics activities," the chief said.
