University of Northern Iowa teacher education faculty cast a vote of no confidence last night against the university’s top two administrators and the state Board of Regents.
The faculty took the unusual step against President Ben Allen and Provost Gloria Gibson and the Regents because of the way the officials moved to close Malcolm Price Laboratory School.
Regents voted Monday to approve Allen’s proposal to close the school June 30. The decision has come under criticism from faculty, parents and students for a lack of transparency.
Price Lab has long served as a training ground for student teachers, and conducted education research.
