Tuskegee University to welcome new president to campus

Dr. Brian Johnson will be officially introduced to the campus family on Friday, June 13 at 10 a.m. CST in the auditorium of the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at Tuskegee University. The university's board of trustees named Johnson as Tuskegee's seventh president on April 29.

Johnson will assume his duties on June 15. He replaces Dr. Gilbert L. Rochon, who resigned in October.

Johnson has held administrative and academic posts in the following capacities: Vice President for Strategic Planning & Institutional Effectiveness, Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs, Chief of Staff, Director, Coordinator and Associate and Assistant Professor of English. He received a Ph.D. in 17th-19th Century American literature at The University of South Carolina at Columbia (2003), a M.A. in English from The University of Wisconsin-Madison (1998) and a B.A. in English from Johnson C. Smith University (1995).
