Texas Senate approves new limits on regents

The Texas Senate on Wednesday gave final approval to a bill setting new limits on the powers of university regents to fire campus presidents and requiring regents to under undergo ethics training.

Senators unanimously agreed with House-passed changes to Senate Bill 15, and sent it to Gov. Rick Perry to be signed into law.

The approved bill stipulates that regents cannot fire presidents without getting a recommendation to do so from the university system chancellor.
