The new 42-credit hour curriculum required for all Texas undergraduate students will be implemented this fall for incoming freshmen.

It’s up to community colleges and universities to determine what courses make up the core curriculum at their institution, and they then submit their plan to the coordinating board.

The curriculum, which was established to allow students to easily transfer credits between colleges, establishes objectives that each course must address — such as critical thinking and teamwork — and applies to every focus of study.
