The state must do more to encourage college enrollment by minorities, that's what Higher Education Commissioner Raymund Paredes is saying.
More than 1.5 million students attended Texas colleges and universities last year, but enrollment by all Hispanics and African-American males isn't increasing as steadily as the board would've hoped.
Texas Tech Vice President Juan Munoz says the university is making a vigorous efforts to recruit minorities. He says groups like PEGASUS, a first generation student organization, helps get those students to school, stay and school and graduate.
