Ten colleges choose student aid services’ technology to improve value and financial transparency communications to prospective students

Ten colleges and universities recently signed agreements to use Student Aid Services’ enrollment-enhancement solutions including its Personal Enrollment Prospectus™, FAFSA for Institutions, Financial Aid Shopping Sheet, and custom net price calculator (NPC). These services are designed to convey institutional value and affordability to prospective students, and improve enrollment yield.

Student Aid Services is proud to be implementing new and expanded solutions for the following clients: The Culinary Institute of America, Azusa Pacific University, College of Saint Elizabeth, Concordia College–Moorhead, Dean College, Iona College, Jones International University, Manor College, Monroe College, and Roosevelt University.

“We are seeing more colleges focused on providing more accurate and individualized cost and value information much earlier in the college planning cycle,” said Matthew Summer, Student Aid Services’ vice president of business development. “While helping prospective students make smarter choices, our enrollment enhancement services give colleges better ways to communicate value and affordability in a highly competitive and more selective environment.”

Personal Enrollment Prospectus™

To emphasize their value, five colleges will offer prospective students Student Aid Services’ unique Personal Enrollment Prospectus™ (PEP). A personalized brochure dynamically produced in color, the PEP starts a two-way conversation by informing students about their individual costs, academic interests and post-graduation opportunities. Adding the PEP are The Culinary Institute of America, a premier culinary college with campuses in New York, California and Texas; Azusa Pacific University of Azusa, California; Dean College of Franklin, Massachusetts; Roosevelt University of Chicago, Illinois; and Manor College of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Some colleges using Student Aid Services’ online/printed PEP experience a 20 percent enrollment-yield increase.          

FAFSA for Institutions

The Culinary Institute of America will be among the first postsecondary institutions in the country to offer new students free, professional preparation of the federal student aid application (FAFSA) for improved accuracy and timeliness. Accuracy on the FAFSA helps ensure that students receive the most financial aid possible. Student Aid Services’ FAFSA for Institutions program turns a time-consuming and complex chore into a fast and easy task for students and their parents. It will also greatly reduce the time that the Institute’s financial aid team spends answering FAFSA questions and tracking completion. CIA’s FAFSA service will begin this fall.

“Besides providing students a valuable service, our FAFSA assistance creates a very positive impression about a college, and has proven to increase enrollment yield,” Summer said.

Financial Aid Shopping Sheet

Jones International University, an online college based in Centennial, Colorado, will be among the first universities in the country to provide aspiring students with the federally-encouraged Financial Aid Shopping Sheet from Student Aid Services’ custom net price calculator. When implemented later this summer, prospective students will receive a highly personalized aid award letter designed to make costs clear and affordability comparisons easy. Jones International University’s Financial Aid Shopping Sheet also will showcase how it meets student-specific interests.

Custom Net Price Calculator

Five colleges are switching NPCs and upgrading to Student Aid Services’ advanced net price calculator. They are Azusa Pacific University of Azusa, California; Iona College of New Rochelle, New York; College of Saint Elizabeth of Morristown, New Jersey; Monroe College, with two campuses in New York and online; and Concordia College–Moorhead of Moorhead, Minnesota. In addition, The Culinary Institute of America this fall will add a merit aid estimator so prospective students can get an early scholarship estimate before providing the financial details needed for a comprehensive aid and cost estimate from its custom Student Aid Services’ NPC.

For aspiring students, these NPCs will generate personalized, accurate estimates of financial aid, net price and out-of-pocket costs within minutes. Unmatched in accuracy, Student Aid Services’ NPC is a hosted turnkey solution that can replicate an institution’s financial aid eligibility criteria and awarding practices. The NPC’s features can include military aid, one-click Spanish translation, “portable” aid programs for neighboring states, and estimates of monthly, education loan repayments.

Student Aid Services’ enrollment-enhancement solutions will be demonstrated at Booth 131 during the annual conference of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) July 14-17 in Las Vegas.
