Saint Xavier University's (SXU) School of Nursing is pleased to announce the launch of its new 15-month Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (A-BSN) Option.
Starting in May 2014, the A-BSN will allow students with baccalaureate degrees to move through the pre-licensure program in a reduced timeframe. Students will begin nursing coursework each May and complete the fulltime program in 15 months. Pre-requisite courses, if needed, may be completed in advance at SXU prior to the May start. vQualified applicants for the A-BSN option must possess an earned baccalaureate degree from a nationally accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, which includes all pre-requisite coursework.
"This new accelerated option offers everything our students need to prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century healthcare environment with the added advantage of a shorter timeframe," said School of Nursing Dean Gloria Jacobson, R.N., Ph.D.
Established in 1935, SXU’s School of Nursing offered the first accredited baccalaureate nursing program in Illinois. The School of Nursing is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and for the third time has been designated a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing.
