A University of Iowa radiology professor who has been suspended for one year over allegations of disruptive and harassing behavior is no longer getting paid.
UI spokesman Tom Moore said Thursday that Malik Juweid is now on “unpaid administrative leave” and no longer collecting his $241,000 annual salary.
Juweid complained in an e-mail the move to unpaid status is like being fired without a hearing. Moore said Juweid retains his faculty position.
Juweid had asked the university to delay a disciplinary hearing this fall in which he was going to face allegations that he violated university policies, in part by sending dozens of unprofessional emails to colleagues.
