Students with learning challenges find a place in Fresno State program

Like most siblings, Liza and Amy Torres grew up longing for whatever the other one earned or accomplished.

As the older sister, 24-year-old Liza got first crack at many of life's challenges. She earned a high school diploma and looked toward a future of independence and more schooling.

But being born with Down syndrome made those goals more complicated.
