Western Michigan University will be adding two or three new buildings to its student housing complex called the Western View before the 2013 fall semester.
The $13.5 million student housing project, which consists of four three-story buildings, opened in fall 2011 with 330 apartments located on campus between Knollwood Avenue and Kohrman Hall. They offer one- to four-bedroom units for upperclassmen and graduate students.
The additional buildings will be located just west of the current complex, which is at full capacity for the 2012-2013 year.
"The Western View construction project is part of a continuous long-range housing and dining assessment and improvement strategy," said Diane Anderson, vice president for student affairs. "We are very excited about moving ahead quickly in the coming months to address the current demand for on-campus housing. We look forward to providing additional information to the WMU community in the near future when details become available."
