Student Growth At Area Universities Results In New Dorm Construction

Growing student enrollments at area colleges have resulted in the construction of new dorms and privately owned off-campus apartments.

Officials at area schools say that while the new construction on campus is enrollment-driven, it’s also the result of more students wanting the college campus experience.

“The improved new campus dining hall, dorms and adding football to the school have all increased USA students wanting to live on campus,” said John Smith, the University of South Alabama’s Vice President for Student Affairs.

A new 350-bed dorm facility will open on campus at USA in the fall of 2013.
