Gov. Steve Beshear’s proposal to build new facilities at all of Kentucky’s 16 community and technical colleges would largely be financed with an additional student fee.
Michael McCall, president of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, said Monday the fee would start next fall at $4 per credit hour and then be set at $8 per credit hour beginning in 2015-16.
So a student taking 15 credit hours would pay $120 more per semester in the new capital construction fees. And, McCall acknowledged, that fee will be in addition to any tuition increases that may be imposed.
