The Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board will look at the fiscal 2011 athletic revenues and expenditures of public colleges and universities statewide during a meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the board’s agenda.
The board reviews revenues and expenditures for athletics at each public institution annually and reports the information to the Legislative Joint Auditing Committee by November. The board does not need to vote on the report but will hear about it, spokesman Brandi Hinkle said Monday.
During 2011-2012 total athletic expenditure and revenue statewide rose over the previous fiscal year. Revenues were about $124,221,778 in fiscal 2010 but increased to about $134,714,659 this past year, the report shows.
At UCA, both spending and revenue also were up for athletics, according to state documents. Total revenue for UCA’s athletics was about $9.4 million, the same amount spent that year, the report shows. UCA spokesman Jeff Pitchford said UCA made a conservative budget, earned more revenue than what it budgeted and spent that revenue.
